If you get your hands on one of these at an Asian restaurant or take-away, do not throw it out. Rinse and dry it, then fill it with chain oil. It has the perfect size for travelling, does not leak and makes applying easy.

I have seen footage of people using plastic gloves as a smartphone holder on their handlebar by stretching the opening around the bar and squeezing the phone in the elastic. Have not tried it yet, looked intriguing!

If you start your day off sugary, you will have to keep your blood sugar level high for the rest of the day. Many cyclists therefore recommend salted potatoes. They are easy to digest and provide sustainable energy. The salt A) tastes nice and B) is also great restitute for the salt your loosing while sweating. I like to keep the potato peel on, as it will keep your hands a little cleaner and prevents them from turning into mashed potatoes in your bag.

Use it on the face, in between your eyebrows, where the cycling glasses, cap and buff do not protect your face from the cold. As it contains only fat and no water, it builds a barrier against the wind and low temperatures.

What your favorite bike Brands have to do with the gun industry
Where to begin? In 2018, after the Parkland Shooting, several retailers and cyclists boycotted the products of Giro, Bell, CamelBak and Blackburn.
Their parent company Vista Outdoor was at that point America's largest manufacturer of ammunition but also owning gun-making companys such as Stevens firearms and Savage Arms. The latter listed semi-automatic weapons for sale. Vista Outdoor was an active supporter of the NRA, also having one of the largest booths at the 2018 National Rifle Association convention.
How much of that has changed since then? Well, let’s start: they are still attending the NRA convention this year and presenting the products of their brands Butler Creek, RCBS, Champion and Hoppe’s.
Vista’s CEO Chris Metz promised a continued support for the NRA and Second Amendment in a 2019 interview with the American Rifleman:
AR: Last May when we spoke, you identified yourself and Vista as “ardent supporters of the Second Amendment.” Does that change at all or change how Vista will support NRA and pro-gun advocacy in general?
Metz: No, not one bit. If we’re not the largest industry supporter of the NRA we’re certainly one of the top and that will continue to remain the case. We own more than a dozen leading brands, all dedicated to Second Amendment supporters. It’s the crux of who we are and what we represent. You’ll see that support continue, even more so.
After the public pressure and retailer backlash, Vista Outdoors has sold their controversial guns division by parting with Savage and Stevens Firearms.
However, among other ammunition brands, they still own Federal Premium Ammunition, which sponsored NRA TV until its production stop in 2019.
Jason Vanderbrink, part of Vista’s Executive Team is a member on the Board of Governors of the NSSF, which was referenced as the “NRA’s smaller, highly effective cousin”.
Blackhawk, another brand under the Vista umbrella, advertises a “Father's Day Exclusive Overt Gun Belt Holster Kit” displaying father and son sitting together with a gun in the beforementioned hip holster.
Soooo, I am not a fan.
